Opening Day for the 2019 Season

We are excited to now inform all Strand members and guests that we will open for the 2019 season this Thursday, the 18th of April.

The course is in relatively good condition for this time of year and seems to have come through the winter well. There are some greens with patches of ice damage and the 5th green has extensive damage, though this should not have a significant effect on play. We have dressed, rolled and cut the greens and with warmer weather ahead the course will green up over the next couple of weeks.

Be sure to read the news page of the website to learn about the new course routing for this season if you havnt’t done so already. This year, players can take their break after 9 holes in the clubhouse or on the terrace if eating from the restaurant, otherwise there will be a table and chairs near the putting green, so players who would like to bring their own fika, can take a break after the 9th hole also. In evenings or when there is a private function in the restaurant such as a wedding, we will then open the kiosk and players can take their break after playing the par 3, 10th hole. We will always ensure players are well informed with signage on the 10th tee (old number 1 tee) so there is no confusion.

However, as this weekend is Easter and the restaurant has a large amount of brunch bookings both Saturday and Sunday, I don’t want golfers to be held up in the restaurant waiting to order, so I will ensure the kiosk is open all day Saturday and Sunday to keep things moving.

Also, please be aware the only training/practice areas this season will be the putting green and range. The practice hole is now in play as the 9th hole due to the renovation so training on that part of the course will be forbidden.

Finally, the season is here and we can all get out onto the course. I look forward to seeing you out there and I hope everyone has a great season.

Best regards

Nick Potter
